Heat Treat Operator

Charter Wire (Milwaukee, WI)

POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:

Under the direction of plant supervision, the Heat Treat Operator, heat treats material, while meeting departmental performance standards, and customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or H.S. GED equivalent
  • Forklift Operation, Overhead Crane Operation, and Micrometer Experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six Months to a Year of Related Experience

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Accurately loads, unloads and repackages product
  • Accurately and legibly fills out Heat Treat production, lab and repackaging sheet(s)
  • Performs computer entries into the Heat Treat data base
  • Demonstrates the ability to enter recipes for furnace cycles
  • Identifies problems with the furnace and responds to prompts and alarms
  • Knowledge of work order packet instructions and how to explain them to others
  • Collects, distributes and maintains samples as required
  • Ability to repackage materials using correct skids, coil orientations, clips and banding placements
  • Knowledge of when to ask for assistance with troubleshooting problems and/or alarms
  • Demonstrates the ability to safely and properly use a forklift
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate cranes and lifting devices (including the Bradley lifter)
  • Maintains proper fluid levels in the dip tank
  • Inspects and reworks coils after heat treat cycles are complete
  • Demonstrates how to change thermocouples
  • Properly uses leak detection equipment
  • Performs burnouts in situations such as power outages, etc.
