Career Opportunity: Raw Materials Buyer

Position Summary

The Raw Materials Buyer, along with Raw Materials Sourcing Manager and other staff within the Melt Shop, develops and implements the best purchasing strategies, in regards to production supplies and refractories, to ensure the plant runs effectively.The position will work strategically with the entire purchasing team and with other areas of the business to drive and contribute to the overall purchasing strategies of Cost Reduction, Process Improvement, Supplier Relationship Management and Category Management. The Buyer must have the ability to look for continuous improvement opportunities within the plant and other areas within the purchasing function, leveraging suppliers across the different areas of Charter Steel.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5-7 years of raw materials purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated team experience in working with and leading a multi- functional group, and working with internal customers at various levels throughout the organization
• Ability to coordinate and accomplish multiple priorities from a variety of internal customers
• Demonstrated proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
• Ability to negotiate with internal customers and vendors to arrive at the best optimal solution for the business
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to understand and execute internal customer's needs
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while driving strong procurement results
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with peers and internal customers
