Position Summary
The buyer will be primarily assigned to the Melting Plant and work closely with the maintenance management team of the plant to develop and implement the best purchasing strategies to ensure the plant has the consumables and commodities to run effectively. They will work strategically with the entire purchasing team and with other areas of the business to drive and contribute to the overall purchasing strategies of cost reduction, process improvement, supplier relationship management and category management. The successful candidate will have the ability to look for continuous improvement opportunities within the plant and other areas within the purchasing function, leveraging suppliers across the different areas of Charter Steel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four year business degree
- 2-3 years of related Procurement experience
- Ability to tackle multiple priorities from a variety of internal customers
- Proficient in use of MS Office Software
- Demonstrated negotiating skills
- Able to conduct precise and detailed communications both in verbal and written format
- Demonstrated ability to work independently be self motivated and drive results
- Good interpersonal skills and team skills to develop relationships with peers and internal customers
